Another hot week!

Hey Family!
Another week down. I have a few things to write about this today. Again this week, none of our investigators are making any progress. Me and Elder Chirinos spent some time this week thinking about how we can change that. The best idea that we had, was to involve the ward and stake into our work, so that´s kinda been our focus this week. Lucky for us, our ward and stake are all about missionary work. Everyone is super supportive of our efforts, and is super willing to help. The use of the members is seriosly a huge help. When we bring members to the lessions, it gives our Investagators a friend. Also in this area, most all the members have friends who know verry little about our church. All the members are a huge help in finding people to teach. Everyone, including the youth.

On Saturday, we had an activity with the youth. All of the youth in the ward thought of friends who are not members, and then me an Elder Chirinos split up, and took the youth, and visited their references. This was a super great activity for us and for the youth. For us, we made some new investigators, and for the youth, they got to be missionaries for a few hours. It is so Incredible to see how active the youth are in this ward. Every young man and woman in this ward has a missionary plaque, similar to mine that says, ¨Future Missionary.¨On Sundays, the youth wear their plaques with pride, and they know that they will be a missionary some day.

I have one other neat experience that happened this week. One of the members in the ward called us up this week, I think it was on tuesday, and said that he needed help. Of course we are always willing to help, so we accepted and ran over to Isaac´s house. When we got there, Isaac told us the problem. One of his good friends son, was super sick, and Isaac wanted us to give him a blessing. We abliged and visited the house of Isaac´s friend. Inside laid the son, on his bed. He did not look good. He could hardly open his eyes, and he could only barely move his arms. He could not speak, and his throaght was severly swollen. He practially looked dead. When we entered, we spoke with the mother. The mother told us that he can listen, but can not respond to us or speak with us. We then proceded to ask the mother a few questions. We found out that they are not members of the church, but she had strong faith in Christ. She belived that anything is possible through the power of Christ. She didnt really know what to think about us offering a blessing, but she was desperate, and willing to try anything to help her son. We then briefly taught about faith, and then proceded to bless the son. My companion annointed, and i blessed. I remember that i had know clue what to say, and keep in mind that i do not speak a ton of spanish, but when i laid my hands upon that mans head, words came to me. I do not know what i said, but it was what Heavenly Father wanted me to say. As we left, the mother was in tears, and me and Elder Chirinos just went, ¨Whoa.¨ I do not know what has happened since tuesday, but i can say, and i can testify that there is power in the priesthood. The power is real, and it is incredible. Family, I love you so much!!

Entonces, Preguntas

Kelci- Yes, tell Kelci happy birthday for me, and tell her good luck in florida.

Heat- It is extremmly hot. The heat is the one thing that im struggling with right now. We walk all day in deathly hot tempertures. I have not yet adjusted to the climate yet, i hope i do soon.

Jose- So there is some huge problems with Jose. Jose is ready for baptism, and want to be baptized, but he just cant right now. Jose is not married to his girlfried. That is the big problem. Weve been working with them to work out a weding, but there is some huge problems with Kathrine, the girlfriend. Kathrine doesnt have citizenship here. Without citizenship, she cant be married. It will proably take aver six months before kathrine an get citizenship and can be married. So Jose can no be baptized. it is super sad and unfortuante, but it is what it is.

Ward- Our ward is a really good size. Attending church on sundays is the only time where i feel like im in the states. The members are super great, and the youth program is super strong.

Referels and dinner appointments- So the ward is super good with referals, they are our biggest help. Typically we dont have dinner apointments, but often we have lunch apointment. There are some members that we will ocassionally visit that always feed us. If we are hungry we will visit family Martinez or Family Wendy, and they always will make us food.

2 months down, 22 to go!

Hey Familia!

So im oficially more than 2 months in, crazy!! This week has been super fast. Honestly, all in all, nothing extrodanary has happened, Pretty chill week. We´ve spent alot of time this week looking for new investagators. We have a ton of investagators, but hardly any of them are progresing. Alot of the people down here just want to talk with us. They are always super accepting, and super nice, and seem to be super interested, but they dont ever do anything. We´ll ask people to read a pamphlet, or a chapter in the bible, but when we folow up in the next visit, they never do it. One example of this is church. This week, 20 investagators said they would come to church, and yesterday, not a single one was there. Its super difficult because i cant force them to act. They say they will act, but they just dont... Its funny because when we get people to act, they are almost always converted. Oh well. All in all, things are pretty good down here. Honduras is a pretty chill place. It´s funny because we´ll ask people ¨como esta¨, or ¨que tal¨(hows it going, and whats up) and most people respond with ¨tranquilo¨(chill).

This place is great. Super different, but great. It is deathly hot down here, but other than the weather, things are awesome! I love you all, The church is true.

Questions

My week- Excllente!

Things I need- I think im good!

Font- Si, the church has a verry nice font. Our Capilla is super beatifull. it is this huge church is kinda a rough area, but it is increddible.

Couples- There are a ton of unmarried families. Marriage is not a big deal down here. People just dont care about marriage. Also, its super sad, but there is a ton of single mothers. More than half of the houses that we knock belong to single mothers.

Ward or Branch- We have a ward. There are on average around 150 members who attend church. Its a way decent size ward. The church is super strong here. Other cool things about my area, the stake president lives in my area, so we take advantage of that quite often.

Settled in- Deffinitle. Things are way better now. The food is pretty normal. it took a few weeks, but its all good now.

Clothes- We wash our clothes by hand. We have a sink and a washing stone, and then our dryer is a clothes line. Actually, I kinda like it. I feel like it cleans better, and its kinda peacefull.

City- So Monterry is in Tegucigalpa. I honestly have no clue how close i am to downtown. All i really know is that Monterry is considered Tegucigalpa.

Dawson- Thats sweet. I guess that the spanards accent is super odd. They speak in a super high pithched voice. I bet dawson will love it. Thats nuts that little dawson has is call, crazy!

Mothers day- So ve heard that we get to Skype. There is a few internet cafes that have webcams. I honestly dont know whats going to happen. Ill fill you in when it gets a little closer.

Anyways, Take care, talk to ya next week

Yay for Monday!

Hey! Que tal familia?

Thank you so much for everything, serriously. mmkay, where to begin... So this week has acually gone by pretty fast. It has been difficult to adjust, but Honduras is slowly starting to feel like home. This is not easy, but i was never expecting this to be easy. So this week i have had all sorts of crazy expieriences. Me and my companion have had a few really good investigators. Every one of our Investigators have different problems and questions, but through the power of the holy ghost, they have been able to come to the knowldege of the truth. So we have had one investagator named Jose. Jose is an exxcellent person, and his family is just amazing. Jose has a 1 year old son who is just the joy of Joses life. Well this week, joses little boy got sick, really sick. The little boy was sent to the hospital, and ended up passing away. But somehow miraculously, 5 minuets later, after the boy was pronounced dead, the little boy started breating again, and has made a complete recovery in just a few days. I can not explain it, Jose can not explain it, the doctors can not explain it. It has truly been miraculous. Through this expierience, Jose has been humbled, and weve meet with jose almost everyday this week. He has been making incredible progress, and has commited to baptism on the 25th. I can not explain the workings of the lord, but it is incredible. Also this week i had my first baptism, so yeah, the lord is moving the work forward. Honestly, this mission is an incredible opportunity. It makes for long days, and it is difficult, but i am loving it. This church is so true. Our father in heaven knows us, knows our problems, and our difficulties. I am so greatfull for this church, and the knowldge that i have about it. I love you all much!

Mmkay, so i got 60 minuets to write in the CCM, but i only get 30 here... so i do not have time to answer questions, but i will try to answer them next week. I dont know if you have spent the package yet, but if you havent, there is a few more things i would like. Golf pants are perfect, but not black ones, please. Also, i did not bring a white p day shirt. All of my shirts are black... Also as i said last time, if you see any cool ties, send them my way. Im doing pretty good on money. I get about 150 dollars every month, which is enough to live off of, but not comfortably. Every now and again i may take out 20 dollars, so just keep an eye on my account. There is a few things i need to buy here, so ill proably take out some money today. So yeah, just keep me in your prayers. Think of this, mothers day is in one month. In three or four more letters, youll get to have a phone call with me. Time really flys by. I love you so much

Finally!!! A letter from Honduras

Hola from Honduras!!!!

Holy cow, I made it. There is so much that i have to say, but not much time. This place is so different. My area is called Monterry, and it is in central honduras. I am in Tegucigalpa, nobody here knows the difference between comayuaguela and tegucigalpa. The houses here are litterally built on top of each other, and everyone lives in one room tin sheds. It is a major culture shock. Ill attach some pictures for you. In my house, there is no toilet, we have a backyard and a bucket, there is no shower, we have a water bucket for that, but we do have a fridge, which is a huge blessing. That is the way everyone lives down here, I do not know how people do it. There are alot of really good people down here though. Currently we have 15 investagators, and 22 more who we have visited, but we dont have time for right now. It blows my mind that everybody here is super accepting. We have spent a little bit of time knowcking doors, and not once have we been rejected. Every single person belives in God, and in Christ, but most people do not attend a church, but they want to. Our work here is crazy. We always have investigators to teach and investagators to baptize and investagators who are ready for the gospel. Im not going to lie, it is really tough work. Trying to remember 37 investagators and their difficulties and problems, and where they live is really tough. My area is essentially a five mile square, but none of it is flat, and is is all vertical dirt paths. I have gone to bed every night this week just beat dead. This already has been the hardest thing i have ever done, but it is for such a good cause. There are so many pople here who want the gospel, There is no time to rest. You shouldnt worry about me, I am under the protection of the lord. It has been difficult for my stomach to adjust this week, but im starting to improve. I feel like my spanish is decent, but people here speak a really slang version of spanish called Vos. Im starting to pick up on it, but according to other norte missionaries, it takes about 6 months before one starts to feel comftable. Everything will come in time. Thank you so much for the pictures, it is so good to see the family, and the food. Not gonna lie, the food here is rough. Tortillas, beans, and nastsy goat cheese, oh well. I love you all so much. Thank you so much for everything father and mother. I know am coming to realize how much of blessing i had to be able to grow up in a strong family, who was rooted in the gospel, and who lived in the united states. Life in the states is so nice compared to life outside. Thank you so much for raising me and building my foundation. Ill send another email with answers to questions and other stuff, but for now, Hasta Luego

Con mucho mucho Amor

Conference- In my zone, there is one other norte from utah, so we watched conference in english together, it was really good. There were some really powerfull talks given.

My compañero- My companion is Elder chirinos. He is actually from noth honduras so he is totally used to this place. He is a newbie like me. He is only in his third month, and im in my second. He was trained by elder woodland which is funny, because Elder woodland is that guy from Idaho Falls. I am only Elder chirinos 2nd companion, both of his companions have been idaho boys. hes a really good guy, and yes, he is as short as he seems haha

Easter- Not really a big deal down here. They celebrate the whole week as the Santa Semaña (the holy week). Yesterday seemed like just another day.

The heat- yeah, its hot.. Everyone says that this week is the hottest week of the year, i dont know why. It got up to 120 last week, crazy.

Stuff i need- My black pants are the death of me. My companion only has brown pants, just like my brown levis( my favorite pants) haha. If you could send brown pants, light brown, dark brown, or gray pants, like my levis, that would be faboulous. Other things, mabey some more sd cards, and a usb with church music would be cool. If every you find any cool ties, pack those as well. Also granola bars are heaven, and fruit oatmeal is the same. and more body powder, other than those, i dont need a whole bunch. I love you so much!!!
